These are the spy pics of new Hero Honda Karizma doing rounds on the internet . While the Bajaj has got their pulsar 200 and 220 and Yamaha their R15, Hero Honda was still struck with their aging Karzima which got its only upgrade in the form of an added R and sticker change. Now it looks like the Hero Honda is up for it with the new full fared Karizma. The new Karizma will be the only other bike in India with full front fairing along with the R15.
Some new features:
- New handle bars.
- Full front faring.
- Nice faring embedded clear lamp indicators.
- Hayabusa inspired graphics on faring.
- Rear disc braking
- Gas shocks
- Split grab rails
- LED tails light
And some questions :
- While every body on the internet call the new karizma PGM-Fi (programmable fuel injected) we have to wait and see if it really is fuel injected.
- The Power ?. Did Hero Honda Make any changes in the CC.
- Price ?. will HH be able to price the ZMA competitively.

How Munjal Built Hero Honda
This story in rediff gives a comprehensive history of the Munjals and the Hero Honda. It covers the full story of evolution of the hero group right from the transition from the ancestral vegetable trading to bicycles and how they went on to become World's largest two-wheeler manufacturer. In the early eighties, personal transportation for the middle class Indian was defined by the scooter. Bajaj and Lambretta were the two brands that dominated the Indian roads. To acquire a good scooter often entailed a wait of six to 10 years after the booking and if one wanted it earlier, one had to pay large premiums over and above the showroom price.
Motorcycle brands like Escorts, Rajdoot, Yezdi from Java and Bullet from Royal Enfield had a small but niche presence, this was the time when Hero group the largest manufacturer of bicycles in the world collaborated with Honda- the then largest motorcycle manufacturer of motorcycles to take over the throne later .
Here is a link to the page with major milestones of hero group from their official web site.

Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twin Spark
Royal Enfield India is growing slowly but steadily .The latest offering from the Chennai based company is the new Thunderbird with a twin spark engine and few other changes ,most significant of the changes made is the UCE (unit construction engine) with integrated gear box which according to Royal Enfield reduces the metal wear and tear. The UCE in the Thunderbird Twinspark means that customers will no longer have to deal with the chronic issues of owning a Bullet — the vintage version that has given the company the reputation it basks in today — which means no more push rod adjustment to stop tappet noise, no more oil leaks, no more checking oil level with a dipstick (a glass window now allows an instant check)..Other new features included are the auto decompresser, CV carburetor, powerful disc breaks, a 6-plate low effort clutch and highest payload for any Indian motorcycle(160 kgs) .That plus a torque of 28 Nm ,the company says is the bike's USP.The new Thunderbird @ 20 bhp promises to be more efficient and responsive. The company might phase out the present TBLB(Thunderbird Lean Burn) depending on the response .
